This Duval-Leroy Brut is easily one of the best Champagnes I’ve ever had. It has a smooth creamy taste with hints of citrus and is made from Pinot Noir grapes. I also loved its fine, long lasting bubbles and delicate green gold colouring. I felt sophisticated drinking it.
This particular Champagne also gets brownie points for being organic, which is technically quite difficult to do given the location of the wines on the hillside. In their own words:
Development, enrichment and the protection of the environnment is part of the Duval-Leroy ethic. Our Cuvee Brut*, an “ideological” wine, comes from vines cultivated with respect for nature.
The Duval-Leroy Champagne house has been independently owned and run for over 150 years, and is currently overseen by Carol Duval LeRoy who has made a huge impact modernising and expanding the house – Merci Mademoiselle Duval-Leroy!
